Adamawa state Governor, Murtala Nyako impeached from position.



   After a long period of crisis, the Adamawa State House of Assembly members today July 15th impeached the state governor, Murtala Nyako, following a report by a 7-man investigative committee that probed allegations of gross misconduct and financial impropriety against him.

 According to the report which was read by the State Assembly Speaker Umaru Fintiri on the floor of the House, the governor was found guilty of all the 16 allegations of gross misconduct. 18 out of the 24 members of the State Assembly then signed a resolution removing the governor.

 The House then passed a motion that the Speaker, Umaru Fintiri, should be sworn in as the state’s acting governor today. In addition, the state Deputy Governor who was also investigated by the panel, had alsoresigned his position in a letter he sent to the House of Assembly which was read by members and immediately approved.
