Did you know you've been cutting cakes the wrong way all your life?

You probably will be wondering what I am talking about by now. The picture above shows how we all cut our cakes on a regular basis. Well, that is the wrong way of cutting a cake. Yes! that's right.

Author, Alex Bellos has explained recently that the reason why the above normal method of cutting a cake is bad, is because (the now exposed sides) are just going to get dry.    The next day, when you cut a second wedge from the cake, one Side of that wedge will be dry. (do you understand? )

He says " you're not maximising the amount of gastronomic pleasure
that you could make from this cake. There is a better way."

Alex explains that the right way to cut a cake is: First you cut horizontally across the cake, then you cut across the cake horizontally once again and you have your piece.         See picture for better understanding below...

After you' ve had your piece of cake cut horizontally, there will be space inbetween the cake making it two halves. So you will push both halves together, and join it back. This way,the cake stays fresh for the next time want a piece out of it because no part was exposed.

Life is too short to go through this stress just to have a piece of cake. Whew! But now you know the right way to cut a cake. *wink*
