An event was held yesterday July 11th, to mark Professor Wole Soyinka's 80 birthday. Prof. Soyinka who was born on July 13th 1934 in Abeokuta, will be a year older tomorrow Sunday.
Members of his confraternity Pirates A.k.a Seadogs, where present to celebrate with him. Wole Soyinka is one of the founders of the Pirate Confraternity, which was formed in the 1950s at the University of Ibadan, along side (6) six of his colleagues.
The Nobel Laureate, won the Nobel Prize Award for literature in 1986. Also present at the even to celebrate his 80th Birthday with him, was the Bishop of Sokoto , Reverend Matthew Kukah, Oby Ezekwesili, Former President of Nigeria, Yakubu Gowon, Ogun State Governor, Gov. Ibikunle Amosun, and a host of others.
